Kate Haywood is an architect practicing in the Memphis region, focusing on creative problem-solving in an economically sustainable framework. Kate has held an adjunct professor position at the University of Memphis since 2015. She was most recently a partner at brg3s architects through 2019 before designing her future as an independent architect. Her work experience ranges from planning efforts for the Memphis 3.0 Comprehensive Plan to holding the role of project architect for the renovations and additions to Idlewild Presbyterian Church to designing a nature themed waiting room at St. Jude. She was a key team member awarded the AIA Memphis Honor Award for Excellence for the UTHSC Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation in 2017; these projects were completed under and alongside brg3s architects.

Kate thrives in collaborating with local organizations and served as board chair from 2018-2022 with United Housing, Inc. helping to provide home buyer education, lending products, and affordable housing options for those the private market does not accommodate. She previously served on the board of directors for AIA Memphis as an Emerging Professionals Director and Intern Development Program Director, and was a 2017 graduate of the AIA Memphis Emerging Professionals Leadership Program.

She is supported to do the things above by her husband, Matt who is a real estate attorney in their hometown of Munford, and Hill (5), Mary Jack (3), and Campbell (9 months) round out their family. She is a member at the Church of the River and looks forward to a space where there are hobbies to note!
